Karla's background has been in early childhood education and she has a great love and passion for small children. She belioeves very strongly in the importance of giving small children a broad experience and balanced education.
At a womans retreat in February '09 Karla had the privelage of meeting Mahboba. She was so impressed by her devotion to the poorest woman and children on the earth, of Afghanistan and its plight of 35 years of war.
When speaking to Mahboba she asked about the young orphans aged under 5 and discovered although they had a teacher they had no education resources or art supplies. So it was from that meeting that she decided that she would like to do something to assist.
After discussung the idea of the project with Garry and Cheryl, it was decided that the Artists Cottage would be the sponsors for the kindy project at Hope House.
